Sohaib Qadar

Mr Sohaib Qadar has more than 28 years of diverse experience in the petroleum industry as a lawyer, contracts negotiator and commercial & business development manager, spanning more than 50 countries in the Middle East, South Asia, Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. Mr Qadar has presented many papers at international forums and authored 8 books on petroleum and environmental laws. Since February 2016, Mr Qadar has been working for PPL as its General Manager Legal & Commercial. He is part of PPL’s executive leadership team – and also heads PPL’s Commercial Peer Review (Gate) Committee. He is also member of PPL’s Compliance Committee, Investment Committee, Enterprise Risk Management Committee and the QHSE Committee. Prior to moving to Karachi to work for PPL, Mr Qadar has worked in Calgary, Vienna, Bucharest, Islamabad, Doha and Bakersfield – while working for Oxy as in-house counsel, for OMV as BD & Commercial manager – and for several companies including BP, China Petroleum, OGDCL, Tullow, etc. as a legal & BD consultant Mr Qadar holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Cincinnati and is admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of Ohio, USA and Lahore High Court, Pakistan. He also holds bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry, Mathematics and Political Science from Ohio Wesleyan University. Mr Qadar is a member of the American Bar Association, Canadian Bar Association, Lahore High Court Bar Association, Islamabad Bar Association, Society of Petroleum Engineers and Association of International Petroleum Negotiators.
