The Mexican Petroleum Institute (IMP), created on August 23, 1965, is Mexico’s research center dedicated to the petroleum industry. Its main objectives are to carry out technological research and development, provide engineering and technical services, training, and awarding degrees, the commercialization of the results of research and technological development and participate into strategic and technological joint ventures.

As a Public Research Center, the Mexican Petroleum Institute has the Mission of transforming knowledge into technology and services with value to the petroleum industry; and its Vision is to be a world class Public Research Center with well recognized employees, with technologies and services contributing to the development of the petroleum industry.
