Scott has 30+ years of experience in the upstream oil and gas business in both technical and managerial roles. Of this, he has10 years in domestic Western Canada plays and the balance in various international areas, including both conventional and unconventional (shale gas/liquids, tight oil) plays. His primary work interests are in M&A/new ventures/business development and exploration/appraisal programs.Scott has worked for various sized companies, from a super-major to large independents to small junior E&P’s which include Esso/Exxon, Nexen, Talisman, Caracal Energy and Glencore. His career has included expatriate assignments in Houston with Exxon Production Research Company, and Exploration Manager in Norway with Talisman. His major exposure areas internationally include, L. America (Mexico, Colombia, Argentina), Australia, UK North Sea, Norway (Southern & Mid, Barents Sea), Saharan Africa (Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia, Libya), Sub-Saharan Africa (Chad, Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Cameroon), Middle East (Yemen, Iraq, UAE) and Eastern Europe (Poland, Ukraine, Hungary, Romania) with minor exposure to Asia (PNG, Indonesia, Malaysia), China, Russia and Brazil.Scott is an active member in the following organizations: APEGA, CSPG, AAPG, PESGB, and HGS. He possesses a B.Sc. (Honours) in Geology from McMaster University, and a M.Sc. in Earth Sciences from Memorial University of Newfoundland. He has been an invited speaker for several international and NOC conferences, and has published several technical papers, geology book chapters, and presented oral talks at many oil and gas conferences. Presently he is an upstream consultant based in Calgary, Alberta, and is an advisor to the Board of Directors of CGEF.
